Count of Monte Cristo

Click HERE to see a deeply moving music video summarizing the tragic story of a man wronged by society. Young Edmond, naive and green, has high hopes for his future as he is promoted captain of a ship. He is also engaged to a breathtakingly beautiful woman.

However, Fate has other plans for him. Betrayed by friends, he is thrown in jail and what may be even worse, into the very depths of despair. Luckily for him, he finds a wise man in prison who teaches him the ways of the world and how to think like the elite.

After he escapes from jail, he assumes a new identity -- Count of Monte Cristo -- and seeks vengeance.

I like this movie / story (by Alexandre Dumas) not for the vengeance part, but for the lesson it imparts: that knowledge is power, and that a man must seek power and control it, and use it for good.
