Protect your time and your mind

Two weeks ago, I spent about two hours writing a press release and associated materials to invite the news media to write about my company, Talentelle (www.talentelle.com).

A few days later, we got a phone call from a columnist, and a few days later, we appeared in the Gazette (www.talentelle-news.blogspot.com).

On that Saturday, 160,000 people bought the newspaper and read about us.

How did we do it?

Simple: I knew exactly what to write. I know what journalists are looking for. I tried to help them to do their job, by providing factual, newsworthy information in a concise manner.

The point is that you can go through life doing all kinds of things and yet, you might not get the results you want. Strategic knowledge is key to getting what you want.

This is exactly what I want to share with men on this portal. Our society is filled with useless, irrelevant information, from fiction books to news reports that have nothing to do with your goals. No wonder most people feel their lives are going nowhere.

This is why it's critical to critically examine the information you're getting on a daily basis. Does it empower you and help you get closer to your goals? If not, kill it. Don't let that kind of information reach you the day after. Cut off the information source, whether it's friends who don't help you reach your goals, or the familiar yet useless news reports we get every night from the tube.

It is simply impossible to become the best at what you do unless you first become ruthless about protecting your time and your mind from useless information coming at you from seemingly everywhere.
